Our Classes at the studio

Pottery Classes and Workshops

We offer many different types of classes, services and activities. These include Special Orders, Adult Wheel Classes, birthday parties, Girl or Boy Scouts merit badges, group outings, parties, or corporate team building.

Already a potter? Let our studio be your studio. Competitive prices on clay, glazes and firing fees. Come and explore your artistic talents whether it be hand building, sculpting, or throwing on the wheel. See Class Schedule for available class times.


Intro & Beginner Classes

One Time Wheel Throwing

For ages 18 and up. Try your hand at the pottery wheel. Under instruction by a staff member, you can make a bowl and select your glaze colors, In 4 -6  weeks, return to pickup your creation. This is a great way to get together with a few friends and have a blast.

Please remember that there are no refunds, but you are allowed one (1) reschedule with notice of at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance. Let’s Have Fun!

Cost: $60.00 which includes clay, instruction, paint/glazing, and firing. Appointments required.

Intro to Hand Sculpture & Wheel

Meet weekly every Sunday and learn handbuilding and sculpting methods creating figurative or abstract forms. Or, on a Monday for a one time sculpture class.

Monthly Adult Wheel Classes

Classes meet weekly. Each class is 2½ hours long. Includes instruction, glazing, and firing. Minimum age is 18. Beginners as well as experienced potters are welcome.

Cost: $170.00/person. Class size is 9 wheel students and 2 hand building students. Each class also includes 12 hours of extra studio time each month. Clay is $25/25# bag and a tool kit for $25.50.

Glaze Making Made Simple Classes

The goal at Potters’ Place is to make every the best potter they can be. So, here is the newest class toward that goal.

We will explore glaze making. The studio has needed more translucent glazes for some time. So, we will be making our own & students will learn the process of glaze making and decide the glaze colors. One afternoon/week we will meet for an instructional & hands on glaze class.

Cost: This class is free to all students who have paid their monthly fees. Anyone else is $50.00 per glaze class.


Advanced Pottery Needs

Studio Time for the Experienced

Let our studio be your studio. We have a fully equipped studio with wheels, slab roller, large extruder, etc., and a wide selection of commercial clay bodies and glazes. Clay, glazing, and firing extra. Call ahead to check on wheel availability.

Cost: $15.00 per hour.

Kiln Service

We offer firing services for kilnless potters. We bisque at cone 04 and glaze at cones 05, 5 and 6.

Cost: Please ask for pricing.

Custom Pottery

Looking for finished pottery for your home or office? We will make it for you. Our “personal potters” can help with design, function and glaze.

Cost: varies

Private Wheel Lessons

These lessons are designed to advance the skill level of the potter. Having trouble with a particular technique or form? Book a private lesson. Private lessons are not a substitute or alternative for One-Time Wheel lessons.

Cost: $60.00 per hour for 1 person
Maximum is 3 people.


Upcoming Workshops


Treat that special adult or child to a Birthday Party at Potters’ Place. With the help of staff members, each participant will create an item from clay. Ages 10 and up can throw a piece on the potters wheel. A clear gloss glaze will make each piece food, microwave, oven and dishwasher safe. Due to the drying period, delivery time is usually 4 to 6 weeks. While we make every effort to ensure the success of each piece, imperfections can occur. In such an instance, we “Embrace the Handmade Look! Cost: $50.00 per participant

Group Outings

Are you a member of a group or club wanting a new and exciting activity? Arrange a "potting" trip.
Cost: Please ask for more details.

Melted Bottle Service

We will be happy to melt your glass bottles for you. Cost: $10.00 per bottle.
